Done!!!

I just love my SKofW!!! Bright and cheerfull!

Right from the start I decided, that this quilt should be my testquilt for back basting. I had only tried it for a single heart, and thought this would be a great opportunity to get to know the technique very well . And I love it!

I have doodle quilted around all the applique motifs and then tried to quilt flowers, hearts and leaves like shown in the book. All by free hand - I love quilting!

Finally, I want to thank Chookyblue for the enormous work keeping all us ladies busy. And I look forward to another challenge!

Keep up the good work ladies - it is worth it!

Quilt top complete

This morning my sewing machine was humming, sewing the bottom border strip, made some months ago. Have  loved stitching this quilt and joining in with the SAL. Now to find the right backing to start quilting!

I still have fabrics left over. Thinking of using them on another of Anni Downs patterns.

This is the the last block and as you can see I`ve changed the  parcel block to knitting. I enjoy knitting. The stitches embroidered on is called knitting. I like my little design.

Instead of a chair I replaced with the tree from `A Christmas Story`. I have put Celebrate new life as this tree reminds me that the first christmas was the birthday for Our Lord Jesus. Gift giving for giving to family and friends.
Well enjoy your stitching, applique and piecing of your quilts ladies. Look forward to seeing your progress. Now to work out my quilting of mine. Next time I blog here will be to show my finished quilt.
Happy Stitching,
Clare.

I'm back!!!

Hi girls,
It's been a while, but I've been busy with a lot of things.
The last few days I worked on my SKOW quilt.
I did the applications but the stitcheries, i'm going to do
them later. I'm preparing the rest of the blocks, so I can
appliquer. Then I can assemble everthing and do my stitcheries.

I hope to show you some new pictures in a few days.

                            Love,
                              Martine

SKofW - Greetings from Finland

Hei, all my SAL friends!

I'm not proud of myself, because I have made only few My favorite things -blocks in this summer.
And here they are...

Fenix - my pet cat ;o)
Butterfly and bird blocks are stitched in finnish.
The sun block is now the sunflower block, because they are one of my favorite autumn flowers.

So I AM a huge step behind you,
but I have enjoyed to see your great progress and finished quilts.

I wish you a happy end of August...
with hugs Satu

THE TOP IS FINISHED

I have finally finished the top of my quilt and it is bigger than I thought it would be. I just love it and now just waiting to get it quilted and then I will get to the binding. I havent decided as to what to use for the backing but I am leaning towards a floral fabric if I can find one I really like. Cheers Jude from judesstuff

Final Stretch

Just wanted to show that I have some of the last row put together...July is done and August just needs the last block then I'll be finished with the top.

My Final Blocks!

Hello!  :)

I actually finished this final row of blocks in May. I just didn't post them here so I figured I'd better do that now.  ;)

Here are my blocks for the final row . . .

Here's a close up of the butterfly block . . .

Isn't it pretty?! I love this pink fabric! And check out the birdie . . .

Of course it's blue! Did you see his wing?  :)

How about some sunshine to brighten your day?

I love sunshine, although I don't like the heat.  :(

The next block is an old wooden chair . . .

Of course it had to be red! Doesn't it just look adorable with all those lovely flowers?

Then there's the heart. I love hearts! And it's pink! It represents family and love of course!

And last, but not least, presents to share . . .

Who doesn't love presents?!!! I do much prefer to give then to receive . . . and I'm not just saying it! I really mean it! I get so much joy watching someone open a gift I picked out or made especially for them.  :)

I still haven't cut the blocks and strips yet. I know! I've gathered the fabric and it's been sitting in a pile waiting to be cut for the last few months.  :)  Now I just have to get moving and get it all cut and pieced together. I will get it done before the deadline! I know I will! I just have to get moving on it.  :)

Until next time . . .

Wowie...Zowie...almost there Chooky! Put your whip away though 'cause I'm almost there!

Here are the blocks for the last row....phew!  Just that sewing block and my dog block to go...almost there.  I think I have been saying that for the last couple of weeks but honestly I'm almost there.  I will have to stay focused though as I go back to work on Monday after having 9 weeks off!  Oh how time flys!  But that's okay, I love my career!  So here they are...
I love butterflies...they remind me of my Mom (my best friend!)

So some of my blocks ended up backwards...oops!  Ah well...birds still sing to the East!

I was going to change this to say 'sunshine on my shoulder's'...a song that my Dad, my brother and I used to sing when we were out and about in the car!  But I decided to leave it be...

I love old wooden chairs!

I love the simlicity of this block....and family is most important!

I love this fabric...it's one of my favorites.  I love to give gifts too!
I love this quilt...I could write a story for each block.  I actually think I just might do that for my label...yikes it will take up the whole back side of the quilt at the rate I am going!
Okay so the push is on to finish up my sewing block and my dog block!  I promise it will be coming soon along with some striping...that sounds awfully funny doesnt it...striping!  LOL
I hope you are all enjoying your summer/winter...where ever you are!

Hey Chooky look what i did

With chookyblue cracking that whip i got my SKOW quilt back out whipped up the side sashings last night and started to cut the next lot of blocks out, this will be for my grand-daughter for either xmas or her birthday which is early January,so she is picking the colours out,she is moving into her own bedroom after xmas as she will be starting high school and the room she is moving into has  lovely lavender walls.
cheers shez xx

let's try this again...

Still working on my sewing block and my dog block but almost done.  I also started working on the strips for in between.  Since there are no specific cutting sizes for those strips I am having a hard time getting going on them.  I dont do well thinking outside the box!  Lori P will help me out though...she always does!  I cant wait to get it all sewn together...it's going to be wonderful just like it's name says!
 Some Kind of Wonderful!
I love my 'best friends' block...I inadvertantly used two different shades of brown for my girlfriends hair but that's okay....she has highlighted hair anyways! LOL

I love shoes...my Aunty bought me a beautiful red pair of shoes from Denmark..I love them!  The heels on mine are a little lower though...can you imagine walking in these ones?  Whoa!

I can see a top done soon !!

2 more blocks !!!

already sewn together...

That means I need one more block to have them all done !!!
All I can say it wont be the chair...
For now I'm going on holidays!! See you later !
Florence

a few more...

Still unsuccesful in uploading more than a few pics at a time.  I get to the fifth pic and it takes all day, literally for it to upload and even then it will not save.  I must be doing something wrong and I havent had/taken the time to figure it all out.  So here are a few more of my blocks...maybe I will get them all on by tomorrow?  These photoes dont show the stitching too well but I have machine blanket stitched all my appliqued pieces.
I love gardening!

stitching around each and every pedal took me a while but I love how it looks.  I just wish you could see my flowers better.

We had a lot of rain while I was in Australia...but that's okay because after rain there is always a rainbow!

Getting there...

Slowely but surely I am posting my finished blocks.  Sorry for the delay, I was having trouble uploading all my pictures at once.  So here is the next row.  I will post one row at a time and see how that goes.  I wish I had a design wall then I could send one picture of all the blocks...that might be an idea...eh?! LOL

I took this pic before I stitched around each chocolate, I have done that since.

I love daisies!  And ice cream too!

not sure why this one is showing a pinkish background...bad photography maybe?  The background is actually a French General beigh in color!!!

I changed the title of my book to 'the Help'.  I should have used a darker thread or again...bad photography!  Ugh!
