Hours To Spare!

I finished my version of this month's bag with hours to spare ;) I chose not to do the stitchery, and since I am a bag-making newbie, I also chose not to do the back opening. I've added a crocheted flower brooch that I have (it was a gift that's been waiting for a specific home).

Leonie

In the nick of time!

Its a May finish....just in time!!

Cheers Lea

Done!

Here's my version of this month's bag! I chose to use some pretty French General fabric which I quilted and used a pretty brownish print as the contrast. I deliberately used the contrast side of the handles facing out to bring extra colour into the finish.
Whilst I followed the instructions for the button at the back, I inserted a zip with a button and hand made loop. I put a double pocket inside as well. I'm very happy with the end result and even more pleased that I didn't need to use my pass after all :D

Im finished!

I finished this two days ago but I forgot to blog!!! Another tick please Chookyblue !

May bag

I enjoyed making this bag.  I wasnt sure I wanted to do the embroidery, but I am pleased I did.  My fabric is a light green, with dark green embroidery.
I also added pockets inside.  I had only a fq of the lining fabric, so did a bit of mix and matching with fabrics.  (and joins where there were not meant to be joins) - but it worked out.
The slit worked  very well - simple to do when you follow the instructions.
I also put the straps around this way so the coloured strip shows.  I didnt want to hide it on the under side.

Waiting

Hello my friends.
I`ve been waiting for the last 10 days for  some more thread to come.
I decided with my bag that I would use fabric and thread from out of my cupboards thinking I had enough.
My thread is Cottage Garden #1003 Indian Lily as this was the closet to my lining fabric.
I then, for the back of my bag put stitching  from `My Favorite Things` quilt.

As you can see I need more thread for the back.
One hank would`ve been enough for the front only!

I have started to put this together hoping thread would come in time
to show my bag ready to use.
Looks like I will have to use my pass.
So close, pity. Oh well will show again next month with
Red Home Little House Pincushion.
Happy Stitching,
Clare.

Finish for May.

Here are a few photos of my SKOW bag for this month.  Have been doing lots of stitchery of late so decided that I wouldn't do it for this bag. After seeing all the other lovely stitchery bags, I am a bit disappointed I didn't, but am still happy with how mine turned out. I decided it looked a bit plain so tonight made a Suffolk puff and added a couple of buttons to the front.

I added a pocket to the inside as well and didn't make the slit in the back.
Well Chooky, can you please mark me off as completed for May, now onto the Red Home pin cushion.
Bye for now.......  Noela.........

I'm late :-(

Hello everyone, I'm sorry but unfortunately I'm sooooo late :-(

I hope see you soon ;-)
Kisses to all, Emanuela

Pass please, Chooky

After a few false starts and other hiccups, I'm way behind with this month's project. The outer bag (no embroidery, just an applique of that cheeky bird) is finished, and so is the lining, complete with a pocket, but that's all. Not too much more to do but I'm out tonight and working tomorrow so no chance to sew until the weekend. I'll post a pic when it's finished. Meanwhile, it's been lovely to see all the different bags - well done to everyone who's more organised than I am!

Finished just in time

My bag has been sitting half finished for nearly 2 weeks. Just slackness on my part in getting back to it until yesterday as i knew the end of May was quickly looming.
I had also been debating whether to add the gap at the back or not. I added it.
Happy Stitching.

May Finished

I´m the last I know it.

I finally managed to finish the bag ... and still in May ...
hope you like it, I loved it

May bag ....

I did so enjoy this months SAL project - I love linen and I love stitchery and I love bags......

The stitchery took the longest to do.. but it was a lot of fun...

I used a bargain piece of raw linen that I found...

... and sewed with Pearl 8 - Canna from Cottage Garden threads.... I loved using the Pearl with the bit of sheen and of course no splitting of threads..... it is the equivalent of 3 threads and so was great for this project on the courser linen....

Righto, Gotto Go.... I'm a bit nervous about those 1/2" hexies for next month !!!!

I made it

Here is my entry for May. I made the stitchery right after Christmas but it has taken me some months to finish the bag.

May SAL

Here is my bag. I put a pocket inside. Looking at it I think I may have pur the handles on back to front.

May project all done

This weekend I met with friends and had a weekend of sewing.

I had my stitchery ready, fabric chosen and sewing machine threaded up.

I spent all day Saturday putting my bag together.

I was toying with the idea of adding a pocket to the inside of the bag.

It was suggested I use a magnet instead.
I put a magnet into the lining of the bag.

Then I made a Lanyon with a lobster clasp at the end and attached the other magnet to the Lanyon.

So now when I have keys or scissors attached to the Lanyon I won't lose them  As they will be attached to the magnet in my bag.

I enjoyed making the bag so who knows another might be made in the future.

Stitch-A-Long - May - Done!

My "light" version of May Bag.  This was not difficult to do. For me embroiderie is the hard task.
My cat is a white one so I had to use that colour. Always have loved to see some blues and brown together, so here it is in those colours. Now that Spring is in the air, its a good reason to go for a walk with my new bag.

Catching up on April

This is my rather weak attempt at the April project, I intended to do two single blocks but have only completed one so far.  I did find this sweet little hanger that fits it perfectly, and it was nice to use some of my 'Christmas Fun' fabrics.

Now just one week left of May to get my bag finished.....

May's SAL Project

I enjoyed making Anni's bag from "Some Kind of Wonderful", and like many of us by the looks, I made a little minor change or two -
Instead of using the linen for the side inserts of the bag, I used the brown fabric I had chosen for the lining. It didn't then need the binding on the top of the bag - just top stitched it and left it at that.

Pin cushion for June

We are all packed and ready to leave tomorrow "on a jet plane"! Looking forward to very little cooking and cleaning for a while! The stitching is packed and the warm clothes are in too as France is having a bit of a chilly Spring! Just thought I would share my little pin cushion for the June Stitch-a-long as I will be away. Luckily this was done earlier.

May Project - Tick!

I have finished this months project and am very happy with it. I've wanted to make this bag since I bought the book so the SAL was great motivation to get it made.

Running a little late

Like everyone, I have been a little time poor of late.
I managed to get the stitcheries completed early in April but time has just flown past.
Friday night I decided to put everything else aside and concentrate on finishing this project.

I decided to make mine smaller because of where I am planning on hanging it.
Now just a trip to Hatched & Patched is needed to get a hanger.

I am loving how everyone's projects are the same but different.

I'm off to cut my linen for May's project.

Until Next Time
Happy Stitching xox

May Project Done & Dusted

Well, Ms Chookyblue - you did say the embroidery was optional - so I opted out of the embroidery.  But I did add pockets inside.

I originally purchased these fabrics with the idea of making a bag - so I used them for this one.

May's bag

It has been another busy week but there has been a little stitching done. I finally put together my Some Kind of Wonderful bag last weekend. I had done the stitching quite a while ago so it was good that the Stitch-a-long blog had this project for this month. Here it is all finished.

Hello all you beautiful sewers, I think I am out of this SAL as I used a Pass earlier and then ended up finishing the project later but finding it hard to keep up. I will still watch all your progress though as everyone is doing a fab job. Keep up the amazing and inspirational work. Thanks for hosting Chooky. Love Susie

MAY BAG FINISHED

Hi every one, I hope you are all progressing well this month. I did most of the stitching while DH and I had a few days at the beach relaxing and yesterday I sewed the bag together. I have made the handles longer as I like to carry my bags over my shoulder. I like the way the handles were attached in this bag and will use this method again. Once again this project was made from fabric in my stash except I had to buy more cotton as I had run out.
Bye for now Jude from judesstuff
